Out Of Shady's Shadow

Remember back in '06 when Eminem put out the "Re-Up" album, introducing all of his new artists on Shady Records? (yeah I forgot too). Ever wonder what happened to all those artists? Well I'll try to catch everyone up on the long lost Shady rappers.

1. Obie Trice
Everyone remembers "Real Name No Gimmicks" Obie Trice even back on the 8 Mile Soundtrack (yep, forgot you bought that one too didn't you?).  Trice managed to have a pretty steady career for years under Eminem's management.  He had a critically acclaimed debut album with "Cheers".  He even managed to release a decent sophmore album "Second Round's On Me" (anybody remember when he performed "Snitch" on CSI? haha).  Now with a bullet still lodged in his head (look it up), Trice asked to be released from Shady/Interscope after 10 years of loyalty.  Now he is working on his 3rd solo album "Bottom's Up' and is right now unsigned.  Recently, he and producer Moss released an EP together called "Special Reserve".  Hopefully there will be more to come!

2. Bobby Creekwater
We never heard too much from this ATL bred rapper.  I don't see why not because this guy was probably the most underrated artist on Shady.  However, Creekwater did manage to release a very solid EP under Eminem before he left the label called "The B.C. Era Deuce" (back in '09).   Now, also a free agent, Bobby Creekwater is planning to release his debut album "The Day It All Made Since" sometime this year independently.  In prep for his upcoming album, Creekwater recently released a mixtape called "Back To Briefcase 2".  Creekwater is a great southern lyricist and with the material he has put out lately, I hope he is able to establish himself without the Shady Machine.

Here is some visuals from his version of "Exhibit A" called "Exhibit B.C.".  I won't front, he kills this
(LOL at the "2Girls1Cup" clip at the 2:04 mark)

3. Stat Quo
I'm sure most people at least heard this name or seen it as a featuring on a few Eminem albums.  ATL rapper Stat Quo was known for the most part as the "Memphis Bleek" of Shady Records.  He was set to release his debut album "Statlanta" back in 2003.....It's 2010 now.  After a promotional feud with Eminem, Stat also joined the bandwagon of leaving Shady Records.  Shortly after his release from the label in 2009, Stat Quo released two street albums independently called "Smokin Mirrors" and "Great Depression".  He is now looking to go in partnership with Sha Money to start a new indie label called Dream Big Ventures.  (Let's see how long that lasts lol)

4. Ca$his
And then....there was one.  After everybody pretty much jumping "Shady" ship, there is still one emcee sailing strong.  Chi-Town/Cali representer, Ca$his hasn't lost hope in his white rapper boss.  I have always been a Ca$his fan since the release of his "County Hound" EP back in 2007.  But after that, it seems that Ca$his has been M.I.A. as of late.  There were many rumors that he also departed from the label, but he cleared everything up with one quick tweet (lol) stating on his Twitter that he is still a Shadyville artist.  To show that he was still apart of the camp (and that nobody forgot who he was), he recently put out a mixtape called the "RE-Introduction of A Dope Artist".  Hopefully Em will use some of that Re-lapse money and back Ca$h on another album. Till then.....

Random sidenote: You know this dude Ca$his has 10 kids?!?
Dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
