With the south getting a soulful face-lift from artists like J. Cole and Jay Electronica, the lower half of the Mason/Dixon line is just thriving with talent now-a-days. Mississippi native, Big K.R.I.T. is a prime example of this vintage southern renaissance flow. This guy really caught my attention from his Curren$y and Smoke DZA assisted single, "No Wheaties". Rapping lyrical slang-filled verses like "doors still slamming on the cadillac/ swinging lane to lane/ gripping grain like a battleaxe". Now K.R.I.T. has released his debut album K.R.I.T. Wuz Here with nothing but soulful beats and soulful lyrics with a slight southern droll. So check this guy out. You won't be sorry. (Pimp C + Common = Big K.R.I.T.)
